so if in case somehow you're an airhead and have no idea waht's going on, your midterms are due very very soon. this weds or next weds.( i don't remember)

we also have a pressing issue with our tracing- we split it up and please, please PLEASE don't lose the slips...i also suggest you each print out a copy of the school's picture from wikipedia or take it yourself- just so you have a more detailed reference. we will resume this mural stuffs after midterms.

so a quick meeting this weds the...15th? 14th? katie and i will sign your slippy things, i know claire already found me. after that, as katie said in the email, you are dismissed and free to enjoy your afternoon in the nose-stinging cold.

things to ponder:
how are we going to get the mural done? how far along the process do we want to be at by the end of the school year?
and communiversity, we should start brainstorming ideas and stuff cause two weeks before just doesn't cut it.( we/i speak from expierence)

Right, so it's november and if we're going to be doing stuff for christmas, we'll need to start brainstorming if we want to fundraise. we'll probably have 4 meetings this month and we'll probably paint all 4 meetings... so don't forget to wear/keep old clothes in your locker if you don't want ot have failclothing like isaac... >:D
there isn't anythign else...but dont' forget to update your journals periodically and if you want to treat us to candy or something, you can bring some :D

we didn't have a meeting today ( i hope you figured it out...) hope you enjoyed your afternoon!
the next upcoming meetings we will most definetly paint, so don't forget to keep old clothes in your locker just in case. and if you can, try and recruit people to help painting/tracing/sketching.

our next big festival thing will probably be Communiveristy, so from now on we will try to start painting.

Communiversity

Communiversity is April 26th noon to five. However, because I (Nikita) have to be at the school by 4:30 for the Jazz State Finals, we will end at 4:00. We will set up at 11:00 am. Our table will be near the library, slot 29.

This wednesday, we will complete the last coat of gesso. No more bad smelling primer!

Communiversity & Mural

Hey guys
Hope you are having a great spring break!

We are officially in Communiversity, which is on April 26th. If you plan on making jewelry, friendship braclets, duct tape wallets, etc. start now b/c AP's and SAT II can consume your life around that time too. We are also allowed to make food, so let me know what you plan to do.

We (leaders) will be buying the plywood and gesso sometime this week. If you want to help out with the mural, let us know ASAP. I emailed some teachers to be our supervisor but so far no luck. We need a teacher to be with us when we paint. But getting the gesso on the plywood is a huge task if you think about the size. Anyway, please encourage any friends who are students or alumni to be part of the mural! (It gets you hours...)

For People interested in Fashion Design:
I want you to get computer paper and fold it in half (hamburger style) and draw sample clothing styles ( 4 to a page)for the following era:
1898-1908
1920s
1940s
1950s
1960s
1970s
1980s

For People who want to work with FONTS:
I want you guys to give me samples of different fonts you can do on a piece of paper
Each sample should include: Name and Graduation Year

1. Making Flyers
The flyers should have the following on there:

Forms in the main office
Donations of $1-10 can get your name and graduation year imprinted
Donations $10 or more can get your potrait on the mural for the era of your choice

i would pick the johnny depp or if you want the background picture, go to the blog site, and one of the entries has all the forms and flyers from last year.

If you make a flyer, please send it to me and print one copy. We need to get it signed and approved.

2. We will go to individual homerooms, so the more ppl you convince to either join the group or be in the mural

3. Making copies for flyers (we'll do this after getting flyers approved)
20 black and white copies = 1hr
10 color copies = 1 hr

My suggestion: Print black and white on bright color paper b/c it catches ppl's attention. If we have enough flyers by next wednesday, we'll make the huge A.R.T.E sign that we had last year...

Fall Fest

Communiversity is a success!

The title says it all! After the street festival, I recounted the money and we have a total of $536 however that is without the coins. This is are last "fair". I know spring fling might be coming up, however, I think we should really start advertising the mural. On Thursday, the tower article will come out on the first page. We also have a quarter page ad in the Tower. For those who still need hours, consider the last entry deal I made with you guys. Anyway, there is no meeting for the next three wednesdays because they are SAT/SAT II/AP weeks. Thank you for participating and happy studying!

Ways to get quick hours

Hey guys,

Here are two ways to get quick hours:
1. For every 20 copies of the form/flyer you print out, I will give you 1 hour!
2. If you guys could carry say 20-30 forms (in the main office) with and ask your teacher if you could make a brief announcement. Here is the deal: For every 5 people you convince, I'll give you one hour!

Tell your classmates:Hey guys/ hi/ some intro
A.R.T.E: Artistically Reviving the Earth plans to paint a mural celebrating 110 years of PHS. However, because the school is not funding the project, we are asking you guys to make donations (a min. of $20). In return you can get featured in the mural. Is anyone interested?

Mention the choice of era and the fact that they can at least have their name in the mural. Remember portraits are decided by first, firs come first serve, and second, the amount donated affects the position. Also mention the option for PHS alumni.

Common Questions:
Where will the mural be?
That is not finalized however we are hoping it will be on the side of the auditorium where the tower articles are...
If not enough people donate will we still have the mural?
Yes, we will still paint the mural, but fundraise by other means.
How big is the mural?
7-8 feet high, 20-22 feet long
What do you mean by position?
There will be many rows of students. So if you were last on the cut off for the mural, but donated $20, you will probably be in the second row. But you can still see your face!

Celebrating 110 years of PHS!

It is official: A.R.T.E. is allowed to paint the mural of our choice. We have met all requirements. We have an art advisor and she loved our idea. This past meeting we discussed the possiblities of fundraising by allowing alumni and students to make generous donations, and in return, as a thank you, we could feature them in the era of their choice. Later on I will be sending out the flyer we will give out. With the money we can finance the mural and support many villages.
Publicity
- Tiger Tribune: Ms. Siso will put it in the Tribune
- Flyers: These will be distributed to each homeroom
- Alumni: The flyer will be sent by email to all the alumni
- Tower: We are allowed to write a tower brief on the mural for more publicity.
- Communiversity: We will have flyers there for those interested to help or donate.

Projected Goal Deadline
We will start taking donations after spring break until the end of the school year. During the summer, those who are interested can help draw the portraits or research fashion styles of each era.
When the new school year begins, we will recruit as many volunteers interested in helping.
We hope to finish the mural before 2008, because in 2008, PHS will celebrate 110 years! This is our present to the school.

Hey guys,
Hope is a wonderful thing. We will be participating in Communiversity for the first year. We are allowed food as long as I get a food permit. We will have to start planning because spring break leaves us only three to four meetings to plan. We will have a meeting the Wednesday before Spring break. Maybe just maybe, we can get a money grant from Pratham and have t-shirt designing but that is a long shot....(Hope shall prevail!!!!!!!!!!)

Craft Show

Long time, not update.
Well, the Cranbury Craft Show was held March 10th and 11th at Cranbury School. We had a great location with a wall behind us and next to an entrance and raffle ticket booth. By mostly henna, we earned 267 dollars which is amazing! Anyway, there is no meeting tommorow because of language exams. Also, our next event will hopefully be Communiversity on April 28th!

Plans

Hey,
So I know its been a while since our last meeting (Dec. 20th). We will have on January 17th but not during the midterms week. There is a midterm, if you are not aware, for community service. So please try to come to the meeting next week to get the info and we can answer questions. Also, people lacking hours, there is a blood drive March 22. I will inform you next week. Lastly, we will hopefully start actually drawing for the mural so come if you have an opinion.

RE: December 13th

December 13th we will not have a meeting. Instead we will meet in the Ideas Center. If you don't know where that is, one of us (leaders) will be in the regular room for the first 5 minutes. Remember to bring the drawings of skater/ basketball player so we can vote.

Our next meeting is November 29th. Things to remember:
Those who are participating in the commissions (the two pictures I sent by email and showed at the last meeting), the drawings are due latest by Dec. 20th. If you have them now, bring them to the next meeting.

The next meeting we will discuss the murals in more detail. Mr. Snyder has given us the initial okay, however there is a lot that has to be done. If you cannot come, let one of the leaders know ASAP.

Potential Projects

Hey guys!
If you couldn't come to the past couple of meetings, here is a summary of what we discussed. We will be featured on the Pratham website and in their monthly newsletter. Along with that, we will get personal letters from the president as a thank you! Even more news, a guest speaker might come in and talk about the operations.

In other news, we are hoping to get the mural idea approved. Our final mural ideas list included:

Diversity
Features of PHS
Historical Transition (110th year in 2008)

We only decided on one location: Student Lounge

Other potential hour earners: Once in a while, we get commissioned. I will be awarding ten hours to those who attempt to draw the pictures. The best one will be picked (obviously).

No meeting November 8th so have a happy long weekend.

P.S. Those who are drawing, the picture is due Nov. 15th along with those who still haven't handed in their contracts!

October 13th is a 1:39 day. We will have a table at the Fall fest. Please let me know what you can make ASAP.

October 14th is the Walnut Lane Street Festival. Set up is at 11 AM. The festival starts at Noon and goes to 4 p.m. Clean up will go till 5:00 P.M. We will have four stations: Face Painting, Henna, Artwork, and Food. I really need to know what each person is doing. Hopefully we will have our t-shirts by Next Saturday!

Hey,
If you couldn't come to the meetings this past two weeks or won't come tommorow (1:39 in room 275), I'll just give you a summary of things of discussion.

Contracts are due on October 18th. Please bring them in on time so I can submit them or do it yourself. (submittion to Dr. Dinan).
If you want an official t-shirt, bring in four dollars ASAP. You will get a preview of the shirt tommorow. We need them before our first event.
October 13th we will participate in the Fall Fest (Oct. Fest). I'll post more info on that in a couple of days.
October 14th, we will participate in the Gala Celebration. We'll get organized and finalize different aspects so are profit can FINALLY complete our goal. (600 dollars).
If there is time, I might discuss future events and possible individual oppurtunities for hours.

Success at the Festival of Arts

Hey guys
I'd like to let you know that we raised a hundred dollars from face painting and henna tatooes at the festival. We only charged a dollar each! However I was very disappointed at the fact that only two people showed up for the event. So thank you Asheesh and Jessica. For all the rest of you, I hope you realize that every hour counts and you could've had a head start.

In other news, we have a meeting this Wednesday to discuss upcoming events and programs along with your own ideas. Please come to room 275 at 1:39. We will be sharing with Special Olympics so it might be crowded.

GOURGAUD GALLERY
CRANBURY DAY EVENTS
Saturday, September 9 - Time 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.- Location: Town Hall

The Cranbury Arts Council is pleased to offer a Sidewalk Chalk Drawing Event on Cranbury Day from 9:00 a.m. until the chalk runs out! All participants will receive a box of colored chalk and can create their own artwork in a special area by the Town Hall. All ages are invited to come by and be part of this colorful event.

In addition, the Gourgaud Gallery will be hosting a Clothesline Art Contest. All original artwork in any medium must be on paper or thin board, unframed and ready to be pinned onto the clotheslines located in front of Town Hall. The artists must have their work registered between 9:00 a.m. –10:30 a.m. and the winners will be announced at 2:00 p.m. Members of the Gourgaud Gallery Committee will judge the artwork. Ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be given in the Student and Adult Divisions, as well as some great prizes.

So come by Town Hall on Cranbury Day! In addition to all the events, giveaways from Utrecht Art Supplies and art contest winners, The Gourgaud Gallery will also be open and is featuring the Cranbury Digital Camera Club Exhibit. Don’t miss out on all the artistic fun. See you then!!!

Festival of Arts!

This year is going to be crazy! (Look at the last post). As you know, school starts on Thursday, September 7th, 2006. Our first event is the Festival of Arts in Plainsboro on September 16th. We will be selling our artwork to raise money. There will also be demonstrations and preformances at the festival. The first meeting for the A.R.T.E will definetely be either on the 11th to the 14th, after school and during break (For those who do sports). This will also be the first oppurtunity to get community service hours. The festival will run from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. However set up and clean up is necessary so we will meet an hour early. If you are interested in helping out, whether it is volunteering or providing artwork, email us.

Plans for the Year

I have developed general goals for this year. Last semester we earned close to four hundred dollars. I am hoping this will increase to 1200 dollars. I would love more involvement from members, new and old.
Here is a list of events we are planning on attending:

If anything else comes up I will find out more information.

Second of all, we are partnering with SLiC: Student Library Council and enhancing Reading Buddies. Our part will involve the art (obviously). Themes will be picked each month and we will think of ideas for arts and crafts so the kids have fun! This is a big oppurtunity for community service, whether it is helping on Reading Buddies/Mad art night or helping in getting the crafts ready. Remember fifty hours are needed to graduate.

If hours are still needed, an idea from our advisor, Dr. Dinan, came up last year. What do you think about a mural in the school? I'll make sure to bring this up at a meeting. Any questions email us!

Welcome to A.R.T.E

A.R.T.E: Artistically Reviving the Earth is a Princeton High School club.
How did it start?
The idea of the club came to me during the holidays of 2005. I needed enough community service hours , which was fifty hours. I have always wanted to use my talent in art to an advantage that would benefit others somehow. Then an idea struck me. Why don't I sell my artwork to raise money for an official non-profit organization. However, another idea struck me. Why just me? Why not the entire school or at least those interested, sell their artwork to help raise money.

What is our mission statement?
Our goal is to bring color to children's lives. This will be done locally and internationally. Locally, through an art/reading program in the library. Internationally, by sponsoring villages and children's education.

Interested in joining?
A.R.T.E is currently in one school: Princeton High School. However we want as many schools participating to help support our mission statement. For this reason if you are interested in getting your school involved, please email us at artisticallyrevivingtheearth@gmail.com and we will send you the details needed for the job.
